Silver futures prices rose by Rs 160 to Rs 43,870 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their position on the back of firming global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, silver for delivery in March rose by Rs 160, or 0.37 per cent, to Rs 43,870 per kg, with a business turnover of three lots.
Similarly, the white metal for delivery in May moved up by Rs 160, or 0.36 per cent, to Rs 44,154 per kg, with a business turnover of just one lot.
Market analysts said fresh buying by speculators, supported by firming trend in global market, led to rise in silver prices at futures trade.
Meanwhile, silver increased 0.2 per cent to $28.38 an ounce in Asia.
