Taking positive cues from the overseas market, silver prices today surged Rs 253 to Rs 56,100 per kg in futures trading as speculators enlarged their positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in July surged Rs 253, or 0.45%, to Rs 56,100 per kg, with a business turnover of 4,827 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in September also shot up by Rs 234, or 0.41%, to Rs 56,831 per kg, with a trade volume of 204 lots.
Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators on the back of a firming trend overseas, mainly supported the increase in silver futures prices.
Meanwhile, silver futures rose by 2.09% to $37.57 an ounce in New York.
