Tracking firming trend overseas, silver prices moved up by 0.31% to Rs 55,738 per kg in futures trading today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March rose by Rs 173, or 0.31%, to Rs 55,738 per kg, with a business turnover of 2,735 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in May traded higher by Rs 165, or 0.29%, to Rs 56,875 per kg, with a trade volume of 130 lots.
Market analysts said the rise in silver futures prices was mostly supported by a firming trend in the precious metals overseas.
Globally, silver prices rose by 0.47% to $32.35 an ounce in New York last night.
