Taking positive cues from global market, silver futures prices shot up by 2.52% to Rs 59,520 per kg as traders created fresh positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in September climbed Rs 1,468, or 2.52% to close at Rs 59,520 per kg, after rising to Rs 59,751 per kg, with a business turnover of 749 lots.
The white metal prices for delivery in July also rallied by Rs 1,373, or 2.39% to trade at Rs 58,725 per kg, with a business turnover of 16,031 lots.
Silver in Asian region gained 1.74% to $38.76 an ounce in early trade today.
Analysts said a firming trend in precious metals overseas as concerns about Europe's debt crisis spurred the demand for precious metals as an alternative investment, influenced silver prices at futures trade here.
In addition, strong demand at the domestic spot markets, driven by ongoing marriage season also buoyed the sentiments, they added.
