Silver futures up on better global cues

Silver prices gained Rs 70 or 0.23 per cent to Rs 29,996 per kg in futures market today on fresh buying by speculators and a firming global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for December contract gained Rs 70, or 0.23 per cent to Rs 29,996 per kg, with an open interest of 103 lots.

The metal for delivery in July contract also traded higher by Rs 8, or 0.03 per cent to Rs 19,716 per kg, by clocking of 17,514 lots.

Marketmen said, fresh buying by speculators and reports of better trend in overseas markets mainly pushed up silver prices at futures trade.

Meanwhile, silver increased 0.4 per cent to $19.49 an ounce in the Asian region.
