Silver futures improved by 0.37 per cent on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) today as speculators indulged in fresh buying influenced by firming trend in the US market.
At 1410 hrs, on the MCX platform, silver for the most-active July contract moved up by 0.37 per cent to Rs 22,380 per kg with an open interest in 13,990 lots. It had lost 0.24 per cent in yesterday's trading.
Similarly, silver for delivery in September-month contract traded higher at Rs 22,493 per kg, clocking a turnover of 4,485 lots.
Marketmen said besides fresh buying by speculators following firming trend in the US market mainly led to rise in silver prices at the futures market here.
Meanwhile, silver gained 0.11 cent to $13.81 an ounce in the US market last night.
