Silver futures up on increased offtake

Silver prices traded a tad higher Rs 24 or 0.08 per cent to Rs 29,225 per kg in futures trade today on increased offtake, supported by a firming trend in overseas markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for July-month contract edged up Rs 24, or 0.08 per cent to Rs 29,225 per kg, with an open interest of 11,845 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 21, or 0.07 per cent to Rs 29,320 per kg, with an open interest of 1,652 lots.

Marketmen said increased offtake by speculators and reports of a firming trend in overseas markets pushed up the silver prices at futures trade.

Meanwhile, silver traded higher by 0.44 per cent to $18.32 an ounce in the Asian region.
