Silver prices fell by Rs 40, or 0.14 per cent, to Rs 28,694 per kg in futures trading today due to higher sales influenced by a weakening global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for September month fell by Rs 40, or 0.14 per cent, to Rs 28,694 per kg with an open interest of 15,061 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in December declined by Rs 33, or 0.11 per cent, to Rs 28,814 per kg in 1156 lots.
Marketmen said fresh selling influenced by a weakening global trend mainly led to fall in silver prices at futures trade.
Meanwhile, silver traded lower by 0.45 per cent to $17.88 an ounce in Asia.
