While an easy-to-steady trend was noticed in groundnut oil, most of the other edible oils ruled easy-to-subdued at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market, Turbhe, Navi Mumbai yesterday.
Groundnut oil eased by Re 1 at Rs 594 per 10 kg on slightly reduced consumer demand against modest arrivals.
In other oils, castor oil commercial and BSS qualities declined further by Rs 3 each to Rs 442 and Rs 454 per 10 kg, respectively. Sesame oil and copra oil white declined by Rs 15 and Rs 10 to Rs 435 and Rs 500 per 10 kg, respectively. Cottonseed oil washed and refined qualities looked up by Rs 3 and Rs 2 to Rs 428 and Rs 430 per 10 kg, respectively. Soya oil refined and sunflower oil expeller softened by Rs 3 and Rs 2 to Rs 395 and Rs 438 per 10 kg, respectively. Imported palmolein weakened by Rs 3 at Rs 390 per 10 kg.

In oilseeds, castorseeds Madras and Maharashtra qualities declined by Rs 14 each to Rs 2,026 and Rs 2,020 a quintal respectively.
Sugar: A firm-to-upward condition was witnessed in prices at the wholesale market yesterday. The undertone of the market was firm.
Sugar S-30 grade firmed up to Rs 1435/1460 a quintal from the previous level of Rs 1430/1455. However, sugar M-30 eased to Rs 1450/1520 a quintal against its previous level of Rs 1462/1520.
Meanwhile, sugar for the check-post deliveries were quoted higher at Rs 1416/1425 a quintal for the S-30 grade and Rs 1435/1445 a quintal for the M-30 grade.
Non-ferrous metals: While tin and nickel prices firmed up, copper and brass ruled easy in the local market yesterday.
In the scraps section, copper heavy scraps, copper utensils, brass utensils, and brass sheetcuttings eased by 50 paise each to Rs 103.50, Rs 92.50, Rs 85.50 and Rs 87.50 a kg, respectively. Aluminium utensils ruled overall steady at Rs 63.50 a kg.
In virgin metals, tin slabs and nickel cathodes improved by Rs 2 each to Rs 384 and Rs 255 a kg, respectively. Copper wirebar eased by 50 paise at Rs 117 a kg. Meanwhile, all the other metals ruled overall steady, and were nominally quoted as under : aluminium ingots Rs 86, zinc slabs Rs 79 and lead ingots Rs 45.50 a kg, respectively.
Bullion: A firm-to-upward trend was witnessed in both the precious metals at the local market yesterday. However, the market sentiment was weak.
In white metals, silver .999 and .916 improved by Rs 170 and Rs 165 to Rs 7620 and Rs 7490 a kg, respectively on firm overseas advices.
In yellow metals, standard gold and 22 carat gold advanced by Rs 20 and Rs 15 to Rs 4250 and Rs 3930 per 10 grammes respectively. Gold biscuit prices hardened by Rs 400 at Rs 50,200 per piece of bar.
