Silver prices attained yet another historic peak of Rs 30,785 per kilo at the bullion market here today on emergence of fresh buying from stockists and speculators amidst a surging trend in global markets.
The industrial metal had scaled an all-time high of Rs 30,760 on Thursday.
Gold, however, moved down further owing to subdued local buying interest at existing higher levels. Silver ready (.999 fineness) rose by Rs 90 per kilo to end at Rs 30,785 from Friday's closing level of Rs 30,695.
However, standard gold (99.5 purity) eased by Rs 20 per ten grams to finish at Rs 18,910 from yesterday's closing level of Rs 18,930.
Pure gold (99.9 purity) looked down by Rs 25 per ten grams to settle at Rs 19,000, as against Rs 19,025 previously.
In New York, gold for December delivery added 20 cents to $1,237.90 an ounce on the Comex division of NYMEX.
Silver for September delivery was up 6 cents to $19.04 an ounce.
