Simbhaoli Sugars to sell carbon credit

Simbhaoli Sugars today said it has registered with the United National Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to sell carbon credits from its power generation unit based on biomass.
 
Simbhaoli Sugars biomass power project has got registered for carbon credits entitlement by the UNFCCC, the company said in a communique to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
 
"The annual credits of emission reduction from power export (sale) have been estimated at 44,682 tonnes of CO2 over 10 crediting years," it said.
 
The selected project, which is located at the company's Uttar Pradesh-based unit in Simbhaoli, involves 22 mw/hr backpressure type turbo generator.
 
The total capacity of biomass based co-generated power would go up to 32 mw per hour.
 
Apart from generating power and steam for the sugar mill's captive consumption, Simbhaoli Sugars plans to sell 14 mw/hr to UP Power Corporation, it said.
