The markets were in consolidation mode last week, with the Smart Portfolios benchmark BSE 200 index moving in a narrow band of 3.60 per cent (65 points). The index eventually ended with a loss of 1.23 per cent at 1,865. Global cues, especially from China, had a major bearing on the markets throughout the week.

For the week ended August 21, the BSE 200 portfolio value declined marginally by Rs 13,000 to Rs 10.47 lakh. However, the networth is still up 4.67 per cent when compared to its original virtual corpus of Rs 10 lakh at the start of Smart Portfolios on September 1, 2008.

Amar Ambani and Anand Agarwal were net sellers of stocks worth Rs 1.35 lakh and Rs 1.69 lakh, respectively. While Kashyap Pujara stayed on the sidelines, Sadanand Shetty net sold stocks worth Rs 5.70 lakh. Cumulatively, the four managers were net sellers of stocks worth Rs 8.74 lakh as against net purchases of stocks worth Rs 13.19 lakh in the preceding week.

Amar Ambani’s networth now stands at Rs 24.80 lakh up almost 148 per cent from its initial virtual corpus of Rs 10 lakh. Anand Agarwal's portfolio value is Rs 21.84 lakh, up 118.40 per cent. Kashyap Pujara’s portfolio value is Rs 13.06 lakh, up 30.63 per cent, and Sadanand Shetty's net worth stands at Rs 15.75 lakh, up 57.48 per cent.

Sadanand Shetty’s 12 stocks are a mix of large-, mid- and small-cap stocks. The four large-caps in his portfolio are all from the Sensex 30 – TCS, Infosys, Reliance Industries and Bharti. He holds mid-caps, and small-caps such as United Phosphorous, GVK Power, NDTV, Taj GVK Hotel and BGR Energy. Four stocks in his portfolio are currently below his cost price.

Reliance Industries is down 14 per cent. United Phosphorous and Dhampur Sugar are down 6.8 per cent and 5.2 per cent respectively. Taj GVK Hotel is up 25.8 per cent from his cost price. TCS and BGR Energy are up 12.5 per cent and 10.9 per cent respectively. Shetty's total investments stands at Rs 9.84 lakh, and he holds cash Rs 5.91 lakh.
