The Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA) has urged the Centre to maintain status quo on the import duty on RBD palmolien since any cut in duty would not help in bringing down the domestic edible oil prices.
SOPA cautioned that any tinkering with the present duty structure may have the opposite effect: it may discourage oilseed farmers from growing the crop.
