Spices show mixed trend

The wholesale kirana market showed a mixed trend today as black pepper and red chilli rose on pick up in demand.

While turmeric and watermelon kernel declined on poor demand against adequate stocks. Traders said pick up in retailers demand, supported by the ongoing marriage season pushed up black pepper and red chilli prices.

In the national capital, black pepper common remained in demand and surged by Rs 500 to Rs 23,600-23,800 per quintal. 

Red chillies also advanced by Rs 200 to Rs 7,000-11,600 per quintal.  

However, turmeric fell by Rs 300 to Rs 15,700-17,700 per quintal on increased arrivals while watermelon kernel shed Rs 5 to Rs 160 per kg.
