Steel and steel-related stocks were down on Monday on reports that the government has threatened to bring the sector under pricing control if the primary steel makers do not voluntarily stabilise domestic steel prices by the end of the month.
Ispat Industries was down 7.05 per cent to close at Rs 10.55, Jindal Steel was down 5.92 per cent to close at Rs 713.40, the Steel Authority of India scrip was down 4.78 per cent to close at Rs 32.85, Jindal Vijaynangar Steel was down 4.71 per cent to close at Rs 13.15, Sesa Goa was down 4.29 per cent to close at Rs 262.05 and Essar Steel was down 3.93 per cent to close at Rs 22 on sustained selling pressure despite the Steel ministry
