Shares of Sterlite Industries, India’s largest producer of copper, shot up 4.78 per cent to close at Rs 740. A weaker dollar and strong equity markets pushed up three-month copper on the LME by $71 to $6,395 a tonne.
Higher metal prices rubbed off on the Sterlite stock, which rose to the intra-day and 52-week high of Rs 762.90. The stock recorded twice the two-week average trading volume of about 800,000 shares.
