Sugar declines on selling pressure

Sugar prices fell by Rs 50 per quintal in the national capital today on ample supply, amid reduced offtake. Marketmen said increased arrivals from mills against reduced offtake by retailers and bulk consumers on hopes of further fall in prices, pulled down the prices.

Sugar ready medium and second grade prices lost from Rs 2,750-2,850 and Rs 2,740-2,840 to settle at Rs 2,725- 2,825 and Rs 2,715-2,815 per quintal, respectively.

Mill delivery medium and second grade price also slipped from Rs 2,600-2,700 and Rs 2,575-2,675 to end at Rs 2,550- 2,650 and Rs 2,525-2,625 per quintal, respectively.

Following are today's rates in Rs per quintal:

Sugar ready M-30 2,725-2,825 and S-30 2,715-2,815
Mill delivery M-30 2,550-2,650 and S-30 2,525-2625

Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 2,700, Asmoli 2,700, Mawana 2,650, Titabi 2,640, Thanabhavan 2,625, Budhana 2,620 and Dorala 2,630
