Sugar ends lower on poor demand, better supply

Sugar prices fell by Rs 50 per quintal in the national capital today on ample supplies against reduced offtake.

Marketmen said mounting of ready stocks in the market against reduced offtake, caused the downfall in sugar prices.

Sugar ready medium and second grade prices lost from Rs 2,800-2,910 and Rs 2,790-2,900 to settle at Rs 2,750- 2,900 and Rs 2,740-2,890 per quintal.

Mill delivery medium and second grade prices also slipped from Rs 2,625-2,725 and Rs 2,600-2,700 to close at Rs 2,600- 2,700 and Rs 2,575-2,675 per quintal, respectively.

Among millgate section sugar thanabhavan and dorala quoted lower Rs 2,700 each per quintal.

Following are today's rates in Rs per quintal: 
Sugar ready M-30 2,750-2,900 and S-30 2,740-2,890
