Sugar prices decline on reduced offtake

The wholesale sugar market turned weak today, as sugar prices fell upto Rs 15 in the national capital today on reduced offtake by stockists and bulk consumers due to ongoing heavy rains.

Marketmen said stockists refrained from buying due to adverse weather conditions.

They said bulk consumers were not interested after a steep fall in demand of softdrinks and ice-cream due to rainy season.

Sugar ready M-30 fell by Rs 15 to Rs 2,735-2,835 per quintal and S-30 variety by Rs 10 to Rs 2,730-2,830 per quintal.   

Following are today's rates in Rs per quintal:

Sugar ready M-30 2,735-2,835 and S-30 2,730-2,830
Mill delivery M-30 2,575-2,725 and S-30 2,565-2715

Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 2,690, Asmoli 2,680, Mawana 2,640, Titabi 2,630, Thanabhavan 2,600, Budhana 2,600 and Dorala 2,630
