Sugar prices fall on ample supply

Sugar prices fell by Rs 25 per quintal in the national capital today, following selling pressure from mills amid reduced offtake by stockist.

Marketmen said ample supply against reduced offtake, mainly pulled down sugar prices.

They said market faced adequate supply as millers were clearing their positions before the end of current month.
    
Sugar ready medium and second grade prices dropped from Rs 2,900-3,000 and Rs 2,890-2,990 to Rs 2,875-2,975 and Rs 2,865-2,965 per quintal, respectively.
    
Mill delivery medium and second grade price also slipped from Rs 2,680-2,780 and Rs 2,670-2,770 to Rs 2,655-2,755 and Rs 2,645-2,745 per quintal, respectively.
   
In the millgate section, sugar kinnoni traded lower by Rs 20 at Rs.2700, while mawana by Rs 25 to Rs 2,665 per quintal.
    
Following are today's rates in Rs per quintal:
    
Sugar ready M-30 2,875-2,975 and S-30 2,865-2,965.
    
Mill delivery M-30 2,655-2,755 and S-30 2,645-2,745.
   
Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 2,700, Asmoli 2,710, Mawana 2,665, Titabi 2,655, Thanabhavan 2,650, Budhana 2,645 and Dorala 2,650.
