Sugar prices up on better offtake

Sugar prices rose by Rs 25 per quintal in the national capital today, following an pick up in demand against restricted supply from mills.   

Market analysts said better offtake by retailers and bulk consumers against less arrivals from mills mainly pushed up sugar prices. 

Sugar ready medium and second grade prices moved up from Rs 2,920-3,050 and Rs 2,900-3,030 to settle at Rs 2,940-3,075 and Rs 2,925-3,050 per quintal, respectively.

Mill delivery medium and second grade prices also inched up from Rs.2710-2860 and Rs 2,700-2,825 to winding up at Rs 2,730-2,885 and Rs 2,715-2,840 per quintal, respectively.  

Following were today's quotation in Rs per quintal.  

Sugar ready M-30 2,940-3,075 and S-30 2,925-3,050
Mill delivery M-30 2,730-2,885 and S-30 2,715-2,840

Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 2,875, Asmoli 2,870, Mawana 2,840, Titabi 2,830, Thanabhavan 2,780, Budhana 2775 and Dorala 2,825
