Sugar prices up on better offtake

Sugar prices rose by Rs 35 per quintal in the national capital today following pick up in demand amid restricted supply from mills.

Marketmen said fall in supply from mills against better offtake by stockist and bulk consumers, such as soft-drink and ice-cream makers, mainly pushed up sugar prices.

Sugar ready medium and second grade prices improved by Rs 35 each to Rs 2,960-3,110 and Rs 2,950-3,060 per quintal.

Mill delivery medium and second grade price also gained by Rs25 each to Rs 2,760-2,960 and Rs 2,750-2,935 per quintal.  

Following were today's quotation in Rs per quintal.

Sugar ready M-30 2,960-3,110 and S-30 2,940-3,060
Mill delivery M-30 2,760-2,960 and S-30 2,750-2,935

Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 2,960, Asmoli 2,950, Mawana 2,870, Titabi 2,875, Thanabhavan 2,780, Budhana 2770 and Dorala 2,860
