Sugar remains weak on sluggish demand

Sugar prices continued to trade weak at the Vashi wholesale market here today owing to subdued demand from bulk consumers amidst ample supply positions.

Small sugar quality (S-30) fell by Rs 10/16 per quintal to Rs 2,935/2,981 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 2,951/ 2,991.

Medium sugar quality (M-30) also moved down by Rs 9/10 per quintal to Rs 2,966/3,041 as compared to Rs 2,975/3,051 yesterday.

The following are today's closing rates per quintal, with the previous rates in brackets: 

Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,935/2,981 (Rs 2,951 /2,991) and medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,966/3,041 (Rs 2,975/3,051)
