Sugar rises on stockists buying

Sugar prices rose by Rs 20 per quintal in the national capital today on fresh buying by stockists and bulk consumers to meet the seasonal demand. 

Marketmen said fresh buying by stockists and bulk consumers to meet the ongoing festive and marriage season demand mainly pulled up wholesale sugar prices.

Sugar ready medium and second grade prices rose by Rs 20 each to Rs 2,860-2,960 and Rs 2,850-2,950 per quintal. 

Similarly, the mill delivery medium and second grade traded higher by the same margin to Rs 2,660-2,760 and Rs 2,650-2,750 per quintal.

Following are today's rates in Rs per quintal:

Sugar ready M-30 2,860-2,960 and S-30 2,850-2,950
Mill delivery M-30 2,660-2,760 and S-30 2,650-2750

Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Kinonni 2,720, Asmoli 2,730, Mawana 2,690, Titabi 2,680, Thanabhavan 2,675, Budhana 2,670 and Dorala 2,685
