Sugar rises, wheat falls in wholesale foodgrains market

Sugar surged by Rs 50 and wheat fell by the same margin in the wholesale foodgrains market today, even as other commodity prices ruled steady.

Sugar rose by Rs 50 to Rs 3,050 per quintal from Rs 3,000 yesterday, while wheat declined by Rs 50 to Rs 1,900 per quintal from the previous rate of Rs 1,950.

The following are today's commodity rates (per quintal):

Thoor Dal Rs 5900, Urad Dal Rs 6000, Moong Dal Rs 6500, Gram Dal Rs 3050, Sugar Rs 3050, Wheat Rs 1900, Maida (90 kg) Rs 1750 and Sooji (90 kg) Rs 1,950
