Textile funds bring little cheer to small units

 More than 90 per cent of the powerloom units accessed funds from sources other than banks, despite the subsidy available to them under TUFS, according to data available from the office of the textile commissioner, Mumbai till March 31, 2003.

 Most of the small units in the decentralised powerloom sector failed to access TUF funds owing to absence of books of accounts.

 Many powerloom units work on job basis and do not maintain books of accounts, making them unfit for bank loans.
