Titan gains on strong Q4 performance

Q4FY14 net profit up 11.6% yoy at Rs 206 crore as against Rs 185 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

Titan is trading higher by 2% at Rs 278, extending its previous day's 3.4% gain, after reporting 11.6% year-on-year (yoy) jump in net profit at Rs 206 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2014 (Q4).  The Tata Group company had reported net profit of Rs 185 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

The company’s net sales grew 11% to Rs 2,787 crore during the quarter under review as against Rs 2,593 crore in the year-ago period, Titan Industries said in a statement.

The EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) margin improved to 10.6% in the March 2014 quarter from 10.3% in the year-ago quarter.

The stock opened at Rs 279 and touched a high of Rs 280 on the NSE. A combined 1.08 million shares changed hands on the counter in early deals on the NSE and BSE.
