Top 7 Sensex cos lose Rs 19,398 cr in m-cap

TCS and Infosys together took a hit of Rs 9,969 cr

The combined market capitalisation (m-cap) of top seven Sensex companies fell by Rs 19,398 crore last week, led by software companies TCS and Infosys which together took a hit of Rs 9,969 crore.

TCS, RIL, Coal India, SBI, Infosys, HDFC Bank and Bharti Airtel saw erosion in their value amid a flat stock market where the BSE Sensex saw a mild gain of 22.68 points to end the week at 16,972.51 on Friday.

ONGC, ITC and NTPC, however, made gains.

The market-cap of TCS plunged Rs 7,388 crore to Rs 2,41,462 crore, while Infosys value dropped Rs 2,581 crore to Rs 1,42,127 crore.

Reliance Industries Ltd saw a dip of Rs 5,092 crore in value, which was at Rs 2,32,836 crore, while SBI's m-cap slipped Rs 1,748 crore to Rs 1,44,727 crore, CIL lost Rs 1,484 crore from its value which stood at Rs 2,13,240 crore.

Similarly, HDFC Bank shed Rs 669 crore from m-cap which reached Rs 1,28,025 crore, and Bharti Airtel lost Rs 436 crore at Rs 1,18,008 crore.

In contrast, ONGC's market worth soared Rs 11,678 crore to Rs 2,39,040 crore, ITC added Rs 1,915 crore taking its m-cap to Rs 1,95,890 crore and NTPC's value jumped Rs 1,690 crore to Rs 1,25,454 crore.

TCS retained the number one position on the top 10 m-cap list, while ONGC toppled RIL to grab the second slot. RIL slipped to the third place, followed by CIL, ITC, SBI, Infosys, HDFC Bank, NTPC and Bharti.
