Turmeric prices declined by Rs 120 to Rs 13,960 per quintal in the futures market today on profit booking by speculators at existing higher levels.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in July contract declined by Rs 120, or 0.85 per cent, to Rs 13,960 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,380 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in June contract lost Rs 119, or 0.82 per cent, to Rs 14,410 per quintal in 10,580 lots.
Market analysts said profit taking by speculators and increased arrivals in the physical market mainly led to the fall in turmeric prices in futures trade.
