Turmeric prices declined by Rs 18 or 0.12 per cent to Rs 14,685 per quintal in futures market today on profit booking by speculators at existing higher levels.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in June-month contract declined by Rs 18 or 0.12 per cent to Rs 14,685 per quintal, with an open interest of 9,900 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in August lost Rs 12 or 0.08 per cent to Rs 14,300 per quintal, with a trading volume of 1,410 lots.

Market analysts said profit taking by speculators at the existing higher levels amid increased arrivals in spot markets, led to a fall in turmeric prices at futures trade.
