Turmeric prices remained weak dropped by Rs 284, or 1.96 per cent, to Rs 14,200 per quintal in futures trade today on continued profit booking by speculators at prevailing higher levels.
However, interest from global buyers and good local demand, restricted losses.
On the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in July contract lost Rs 284, or 1.96 per cent, to Rs 14,200 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,255 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in August contract lost Rs 220, or 1.53 per cent, to Rs 14,180 per quintal, with a trading volume of 3,385 lots.
Market analysts said continued offloading of positions by speculators at prevailing prices kept pressure on the turmeric prices, but interest from global buyers and spot demand, limited losses.
