Turmeric prices fell by Rs 36 to Rs 3,686 per quintal in futures trade today, as participants reduced their positions largely on rising supplies in market following bumper harvest.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, the April contract fell by Rs 36, or 0.97%, to Rs 3,686 per quintal, with an open interest of 18,490 lots.

The May contract lost Rs 22, or 0.58%, to Rs 3,772 per quintal, with an open interest of 24,255 lots.

Analysts said besides higher supplies in the physical market following bumper harvest this season, subdued demand mainly kept pressure on the turmeric prices at futures trade.
