Turmeric prices declined by Rs 95 or 0.64 per cent to Rs 14,735 per quintal in futures trade today, as speculators reduced their positions against new arrivals in spot markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, the turmeric for near June-month contract lost Rs 95, or 0.64 per cent to Rs 14,735 per quintal, with a trading volume of 10,480 lots.
The spice for July contract fell by Rs 56, or 0.88 per cent to Rs 14,530 per quintal, recorded a business volume of 3,460 lots.
Marketmen said reports of new arrivals from Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, in spot markets influenced the trading sentiment at futures market here.
They said speculators also booked profits at existing higher levels, which influenced the market sentiment.
