Turmeric prices gained 2.42% to Rs 7,692 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions, supported by scattered demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, July contract for turmeric rose by Rs 182, or 2.42%, to Rs 7,692, with a trade volume of 8,175 lots.
Likewise, August contract for the spice gained Rs 150, or 2%, to Rs 7,640 in 4,610 lots. Market experts said increased buying by speculators, driven by rising spot market demand mainly led to the rise in turmeric futures prices.
However, weak export demand restricted the gains, they said.
