Turmeric futures prices fell by over one per cent to Rs 9,836 per quintal after speculators locked in gains amid increased supplies in the spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in April shed Rs 100, or 1.01 per cent, to Rs 9,836 per quintal, with an open interest of 7,570 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in May lost Rs 82, or 0.87 per cent, to Rs 9,350 per quintal, with a business volume of 5,230 lots.

Analysts said emergence of profit booking by speculators amid adequate stocks in the spot market on increased supplies, mainly weighed on the turmeric futures prices.
