Turmeric futures surge 1.13%on spot demand

Turmeric prices rose by over one% to Rs 4,670 per quintal in futures trade today, as speculators created fresh positions on expectations that the demand in the spot markets may pick up.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, May turmeric rose by Rs 52, or 1.13%, to Rs 4,670 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,500 lots.

The April delivery moved up by Rs 50, or 1.05%, to Rs 4,816 per quintal, with a business turnover of 9,630 lots.
