Turmeric futures up 0.96% on spot demand

Turmeric prices rose by Rs 114, or 0.96 per cent, to Rs 11,930 per 100 kg in futures trade, as speculators enlarged their positions, taking cues from firming trend at spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, turmeric for delivery in October traded higher by Rs 114, or 0.96 per cent, to Rs 11,930 per 100 kg, with a business volume of 2,895 lots.

The spice for delivery in September contract also gained Rs 106, or 0.86 per cent higher, to Rs 12,420 per 100 kg, with an open interest of 6,555 lots.

Analysts said firming trend at physical markets on pick up in demand at lower prices, attracted speculators to enlarge their positions, supported the turmeric at futures trade.
