Turmeric prices rose by Rs 62 to Rs 4,716 per quintal in futures market today, as speculators created fresh positions, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market.
Fresh overseas enquiries also supported the rise in the turmeric prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in April moved up by Rs 62, or 1.33%, to Rs 4,716 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,515 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in May edged higher by Rs 42, or 0.94% to Rs 4512 per quintal in 4,700 lots.
Analysts said apart from pick-up in demand in the spot market, fresh enquiries from overseas mainly led to rise in turmeric prices at futures trade.
