Extending yesterday's losses, turmeric and jeera prices fell by Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today largely due to sluggish demand from retailers and stockists.

Comfortable stocks position following fresh arrivals from producing belts also kept pressure on the prices.

Turmeric prices fell further by Rs 200 to settle at Rs 7,400-13,000 per quintal. Jeera common and jeera best quality also traded lower by the same margin to Rs 15,100-15,400 and Rs 17,400-17,600 per quintal.

Market analysts said sluggish demand from retailers and stockists against fresh arrivals from producing belts, mainly pulled down turmeric and jeera prices in the wholesale kirana market here.
