Turmeric, jeera weakens on subdued demand

Turmeric and jeera prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal each in the national capital today owing to weak local and export demand at existing higher prices.

Turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 15,600-18,500 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality prices also declined to Rs 12,600-12,800 and Rs 14,000-14,500 against previous closing of Rs 12,700-12,900 and Rs 14,100-14,600 per quintal.

Marketmen said reduced offtake by stockists and exporters at existing higher levels, mainly pulled down the select spice prices.

They said sufficient stocks against increased arrivals from producing belts further influenced the trading sentiment.
