Turmeric rises in futures trade as spot demand picks up

Supported by pick-up in spot market demand, turmeric traded higher by Rs 22 to Rs 4,756 per quintal in futures trading today.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, May turmeric gained Rs 22, or 0.46%, to Rs 4,756 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,780 lots.

The April contract edged up by Rs 12, or 0.25%, to Rs 4,872 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,335 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in turmeric futures to pick-up in demand in the spot market.
