Turmeric up more than 1% on thin supply

Reports of lower output this season supported uptrend

Turmeric futures for April gained Rs 82, or 1.20% to Rs 6,900 per quintal in 1,010 lots.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), the May contract gained Rs 74, or 1.06% to Rs 7076 per quintal in 27,335 lots.

Prices rose as participants created speculative positions triggered by thin supplies from producing regions.

Farmers holding back stocks on expectations of rise in prices in coming months amid strong demand supported the trade.
