Understanding the new stock market investor in a post-Covid scenario

NSE-Nielsen study concluded that over half these investors park money in the markets to afford a better lifestyle

Post the pandemic, there has been a huge influx of investors into the market. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) along with research firm NielsenIQ conducted a survey to understand market behaviour of various types of investors across age groups. The survey concluded that over half the investors park money in the markets to afford a better lifestyle. 

While 1 in 3 with an aim to earn long-term returns and multiply wealth. The survey also found that new investors are more active and aware. They have easy access to expert guidance on various investment vehicles. They also have a larger risk appetite and higher aptitude for investments. 

Among the key challenges, most respondents said was information overload and its authenticity and credibility. The total respondents who participated in the survey were 3,068, of which 30 per cent were female.
