Markets continue their good run. For the second consecutive hour, the Sensex has touched a new intra-day high at 18,159. The Sensex is now at 18,149 up 100 points, and the Nifty has gained 31 points at 5,446.
In sync, the smallcap index has moved up 0.9% and midcap index has advanced 0.8%. Of the total 534 scrips, 397 scrips have advanced and 125 have declined. The movers here are Om Metals zooming 16% followed by Transport Corporation gaining 14% and JK Cement up 13%. In the midcap space, 205 scrips have advanced while a mere 63 have declined. state Bank of Mysore up 11% is the major gainer followed by Gujarat State Fertilizes and State Bank of Travancore up 9% and 7% respectively.
Amond the BSE sectoral indices, Realty index is up 0.9% has made a comback to top the charts. Meanwhile, Auto, Teck and Power has pared some of its initial gains. Capital Goods and Consumer Durables still continue to languish in the red. The movers in the Realty space are HDIL gainig 2%, Sobha Dev and Peninsula Land adding 2% each.
Metal giant, Hindalco up nearly 3% is the top gainer on the Sensex. HDFC Bank and Tata Motors gaining 2% each, HDFC and DLF up 1% are the other prominent gains.
For the second consecutive day, Reliance Communications and Relaince Infrastructure down nearly 1% is the top loser on the Sensex. Sterlite, Mahindra & Mahindra and L&T are the other significant losers.
The market breadth continues to be positive. 1,849 stocks have advanced as compared to 865 declines.
