The markets continue to exihibit a strong upward movement with Sensex sustaining above the 18,000 mark, at 18,032 up 164 points and the Nifty is looking healthy at 5418 up 50 points.
The Asian markets continue to be in green but quite static with Hang Seng, Straits Times, Taiwan Weighted and Seoul Composite holding their morning gains. But Nikkei has pared some of its initial gains, and is now at 9,557 up 0.2%.
All the BSE Sectoral Indices continue to be in green with Bankex leading up 1.7% followed by Realty. PSU and Health Care are the least gainers, up 0.49% and 0.39%, respectively.
The BSE Smallcap index is up 1%, outperforming the benchmark while Midcap is in sync with the Sensex.
The major gainers in the Smallcap space are Karuturi Global up nealy 10% followed by Austral Coke, Geodesic and Prime Focus up 7-9%, respectively.
On the losers side ETC Networks has slumped 15% followed by Nagarjuna Agrichem, Globus Spirits and Voltamp Transformers.
The major gainers on the Sensex-30 stocks are Bharti Airtel up 3% closely followed by ICICI Bank, SBI and Sterlite and Reliance Infracture.
The market breadth is extremely positive - out of 2,729 stocks traded so far, 1,850 have advanced and 807 have declined.
