The US markets ended higher for a third straight day as an encouraging manufacturing report led to investor optimism about economic recovery. The Dow closed at 10392, stronger by 83 points or 0.8%, Nasdaq ended at 2241, higher by 15 points or 0.6% and S&P shut at 1106, up 7 points or 0.6%.
The Indian ADRs ended largely in the green. HDFC ended at $120.4, stronger by $2.9 or 2.4%, ICICI Bank closed at $36.7, higher by $0.3 or 0.9% and Patni Computers ended at $20.8, up $0.4 or 2.1%.
However, Tata Motors ended at $15.6, down $0.2 or 1.6% and Sterlite closed at $16.7, lower by $0.2 or 1.1%.
