US markets end in red on consumer confidence data

The US markets dropped as the consumer confidence data dampened hopes of a recovering economy.

The Dow slipped 82 points (1%) to 8,447. The Nasdaq was flat at 1,835 - down nine points.

Indian ADRs were down on Tuesday. Tata Motors plunged 9.5% to $8.52.

Sterlite shed 5.5% to $12.44. Satyam and ICICI Bank dropped 4.5% each to $3.11 and $29.5, respectively.

HDFC Bank and Infosys slipped 1-2% each.

Meanwhile, Genpact added 2% to $11.75. Dr Reddy's was up 1% at $16.95.
