US stocks on Tuesday rose after Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner assured that most of the banks in US have enough reserves to protect against any future losses thus attracting fresh buying at the counters.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 128 points (1.63%) to 7,970. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 17 points (2.13%) to 850. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 36 points (2.22%) at 1,644.
The Indian ADRs too ended on a postive note. Satyam surged over 6% to $1.95. HDFC Bank rose over 5% to $70.6. Patni increased 3% to $6.92. ICICI Bank advanced 2% $16.62. Tata Motors, Tata Communications and MTNL moved up over 1% each to $6.94, $22.63 and $2.92, respectively.
