US stocks leaped on Monday to a eight-month closing high after CIT Group Inc as given a lifeline to avoid bankruptcy.
The Dow Jones industrial average shot up 104 points (1.19%) to 8,848. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 11 points (1.14%) to 951. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 23 points (1.20%) to 1,909.
The Indian ADRs ended on a positive note. ICICI Bank rallied 9% to $33.26 and HSBC Bank surged 6% to $102.14.
Infosys added 5% to $40.68 and Wipro was up 4% at $13.64.
Patni Computers advanced 4% to $12.24 and Tata Motors advanced 3.5% to $9.1.
Sterlite and Dr Reddys was up 2.5% each at $11.97 and $16.31, respectively.
MTNL slipped 1% to $3.85 and Genpact was down 0.5% at $12.4.
