US markets gained on Wednesday as strong industrial output data suggested that the recession was easing. Energy and manufacturing companies benefitted from the data indicating improved industrial demand.
The Dow added 108 points (1%) to 9,792. The Nasdaq was up 31 points (1.5%) at 2,133.
Indian ADRs were also in the green. Patni Computers and Tata Motors surged over 5% each to $18.01 and $13.33, respectively.
Sterlite added 4.5% to Rs $16.15. ICICI Bank gained 3.5% at $36.85.
Infosys moved up 3% to $48.55. Mahindra Satyam, HDFC Bank and Dr Reddy's advanced 2.5% each. Wipro, Tata Communications and MTNL also gained marginally.
